Tackle It Tuesday – The Reno Begins

(I’ve deleted the house photo for security reasons…)
The process began this weekend…..with a pound or two of a hammer, the basement walls began to crumble.

We gave HBI the first crack at the wall…

We removed one wall to make it easier to get the big items out of the utility room...the freezer, the washer / dryer etc.

From there, everything was moved out of the basement, onto the main floor, and into the garage and Shop.

I have no idea what happened to the flash in this photo, but it was the only one I took as the boxes began to pile up...

We will be out of the house for approximately 6 weeks, as the house is lifted, the foundation ripped out, and a new basement poured….

I have started a pile upstairs in the dining room of the ‘things we will need for 6 weeks’.  What has struck me  is, if my pile of ‘essentials’ is so small, what the heck is the rest of the junk in my house for???

6weeks

PoLL:  Leave your answers in the comments….

If you were packing for 6 weeks, what would you consider as ‘essentials’?

I’m not sure how much I’ll be posting through this, but I’ll work to keep you all informed!

Hey Tackle it Tuesday readers – thanks for stopping by!  I will be tackling it with you for the next 6 weeks!

This has to been the biggest tackle I ever seen on 5 minutes for mom. Good Luck on getting done. I look forward in seeing your progress. Great Tackle, I bet it will be beautiful.

It is interesting to see how little we really do need:-) Great tackle!

I usually consider essentials as things I take when I go camping. The list is considerably shorter than when I am at home. However, I also don’t bake, sew, or anything other than necessary there. At home my list of essentials would be different. So maybe you can consider it as if you are camping for a few weeks. Maybe you will have to come home for a weekend, just to have some of the comforts of home, ie. a shower, laundry facilities, etc. You know you are more than welcome anytime.

Where will you live during the six weeks? That would determine some of the answers. Do you need to cook, keep house, etc. while you are away? Also, any body who has lived through a project like yours knows that 6 weeks has a way of turning into 8 and maybe 10 before it is really done. I’ll be watching your progress.

    Hi Rita!

We are ‘camping’ in our 1800 square foot shop on the back of the yard..cooking whatever a microwave, hot plate, toaster oven and barbecue will allow..if you call dusting off the John Deere keeping house, then I guess I will be!:)
